Job Description

The Assistant Head of Middle School has a broad range of responsibilities, including supporting the Head of Middle School with the day-to-day operations of the campus along with curriculum and wellbeing leadership. This is a consultative role that has a focus on working alongside teachers to ensure responsiveness to the educational needs of all students. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Promoting an environment of educational excellence throughout the middle school campus 
  • Pedagogical leadership supporting modern teaching methodologies
  • Empower and support Middle School staff through professional development opportunities
  • Provide specific support for new teachers and those undergoing difficulties with students and classes 
  • Promote student wellbeing and implement effective pastoral care and behaviour management practices
  • Conduct enrolment interviews for prospective students 
  • Maintain a strong and visible presence within the School community, engaging with students, parents, and staff to foster a sense of connection and collaboration.

Salary offered will be commensurate with the successful applicant's skills, qualifications and experience and will be based on the teaching salaries in the Independent Schools NSW Teachers (Hybrid Model) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021.

Selection Criteria

Educational Leadership and Curriculum Development: Demonstrate a history of designing innovative curricula aligned with standards and student needs while modelling effective teaching practices.

Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care: Outline your ability to nurture student well-being, implement strong pastoral care, and collaborate with staff to create a positive learning environment.

Resource Management and Environmental Stewardship: Highlight experience in identifying resource needs, budget preparation, and promoting sustainable practices within an educational context.

Community Engagement and Collaboration: Illustrate your skill in engaging with the School community, representing the School, and contributing to co-curricular activities while ensuring supervision and active involvement.

Commitment to Anglican Ethos: Demonstrated and genuine commitment to upholding and embodying the Anglican Identity and Christian Ethos of the School with clear evidence of Compassion, Wisdom, and Respect in all interactions with students, staff, and the broader school community.
