Job Description
The Director of English at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape of the English department. This leadership position requires a passionate educator who is dedicated to fostering a love for literature and language among students, while also ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
This position demands a strategic thinker with strong communication skills who can inspire both staff and students alike. The Director of English will contribute significantly to creating a vibrant learning environment where excellence in English education is prioritised.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the development and implementation of the English curriculum across Year 5-12 , ensuring alignment with national standards and best practices.
Overseeing the planning and delivery of engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
Supporting and mentoring English teachers, providing guidance on pedagogical techniques, assessment strategies, and professional development opportunities.
Collaborating with other department heads to integrate cross-curricular initiatives that enhance students' literacy skills.
Monitoring student progress through data analysis and assessment outcomes, using this information to inform teaching practices and interventions.
Encouraging an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity in literature and fosters critical thinking among students.
Organising extra-curricular activities such as literary events, or competitions that promote enthusiasm for reading and writing.
Liaising with parents, guardians, and the wider community to promote understanding of the importance of English education.
Participating in school leadership meetings to provide insights on departmental needs, resources, and future directions.
The salary offered will be commensurate with the successful applicant's skills, qualifications and experience and will be based on the teaching salaries in the Independent Schools NSW Teachers Co-operative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.
